OVATION EXPANDS HYBRID VXT OFFERING FOR 2008
Ovation is pleased to expand its hybrid VXT offering with new finishes, exotic tops and a lower priced model.
The VXT was introduced in May 2007 as one model available in a Sunburst and Black finish options. For January 2008, in addition to its Black and Sunburst predecessors, VXT models will now be available in Cherry Trans and Cinnamon Burst finishes. Retail: $2599
Deluxe VXT models featuring new exotic Flame Maple tops will also be added to the 2008 line up. Deluxe VXTs will be available in 59 Burst and Brown Sugar Flame finishes. Retail: $2699
Ovation will also be introducing a lower priced VXT in two new finish options. The VXT Standard is based on Ovation’s popular Elite T guitar and features a maple neck, one-piece poplar body, textured body finishes, Seymour Duncan P90 pickups, and, like the original VXT, VIP microphone imaging technology that controls the acoustic output. Available in Black and Titanium Silver finishes. Retail: $2199

The Hook Up
If you happen to be one of those people that went to a store to demo the new VXT guitar and ran into problems with the connections….don’t give up on it! Here’s how it should be hooked up. The VXT is designed to be plugged-in with either a mono or stereo cable. In the store, it should be connected with a stereo “Y” cable (1/4” stereo to two ¼” mono – right/left). The left side should be plugged into an electric guitar amp and the right side should go into an acoustic amp. There is a switch on the back of the VXT for mono or stereo output selection. Make sure the switch is set to stereo. Use the pan control (lower knob on top) to blend between acoustic and electric tones.
Another alternative to the dual amp set-up is to run the VXT in the mono setting. In this case, plug the VXT into any electric amp using a normal (mono) ¼’ cable. Make sure the switch on the back is set to mono. Crank up the amp and discover some truly unique “hybrid” tones by blending signals with the pan control. (These blended tones are my personal favorites!)
